In fact, perfect and romantic for a honeymoon?..... Value of the Amazon. Shore Excursion We will spend our day at the Bygdøy peninsula, a short ferry trip from downtown Oslo. Is this discrimination I ask?

Singles Travel - One of the best cruise ships we have ever been on.
This ship is pretty and because it is new, does not have the usual wear and tear. Guys Pig has a good bbq lunch that is free. The bad: Havana: We paid significantly more for havana rooms in order to avoid crowds at the pool. But the Havana pool was actually more crowded. It was loud, packed and had no chairs. New elavators: Big swing and a miss here. They take longer, confuse the elderly. The screens used to select floors work poorly. Carnival needs to ditch this system. But the mattresses push apart, leaving a canton in the middle of the bed. Dining: The main dining room anytime system sucks. You have to check in on a screen far away from the dining room. Long lines, too crowded. Gym: the gym is WAY too small for a ship this size. I loved this so much, I want to do one they offer in a different location. The website really does not sell the boat or the experience. The boat is beautiful, about 8 years old and well maintained. I was travelling in low season, so there were only 23 guests out of total 52 and 40 staff! The food was exceptional and safe! The staff were always prepared to make changes to whatever you wanted, however. Good cocktail menu in the bar - I had mango daiquiri. Chop one fresh mango, add 2 shots bacardi, blitz... There is a lovely small pool on deck - perfect for cooling off in. And the spa had two full-time therapists with a reasonably sized menu, but at AMAZING value. The best bit about this cruise are the curated expeditions - all included in the cost. We got to see so much about the real lives and culture of the locals, going to their homes, trying their food, seeing their way of life, travelling the way they do ox cart, cyclo, tuktuk! There is free WIFI on board, BUT it is very poor in places, so be warned. In Phnom Penh there was a lecture from a University lecturer. He is highly entertaining, and very interesting, on modern Cambodian history. One of the lowlights in low season is the transfer from Siem Reap to the port by bus - which took us c. But the coach is great, and there is WIFI!!! So psyche yourself up and go with the flow... I would suggest not a cruise for kids - no entertainment, all cutural stuff. I went as a single female traveler age 50 and loved it. Felt completely safe at all times. I was the only Brit on board - the majority Aussie, with a sprinkling of US, Swedish, Spanish. I regularly just sat on the deck - dozing, reading, listening to music via headphones, just watching the scenery drift past. In fact, perfect and romantic for a honeymoon?..... This exceeded all my expectations. Our first river cruise after over 20+ sea cruises. What a HUGE disappointment. Not much to shout about here, small cabins no fridge even , average food except last night gala dinner , non existent entertainment, very few tours included, indifferent cruise director. It seems Riviera just cut every corner they can making for a very poor experience and DEFINITELY not worth the money they charged. We wish we had stuck to a sea cruise. At least we had gone with some good friends so we could all laugh about it all. Basel mooring was in an industrial area - how nice!! Drink prices were not too bad although we had paid the £99 drinks with meals package and made sure we got our moneys worth. If you are considering this cruise, don't wast your money, spend a bit more and go with another more upmarket company or stick to the sea. I choose this cruise Because of the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Far supérieur than of have met on all cruises l have been. Embarking was easy, we opted for the take bags off ship 7am get ready in area to dis embark.. Easy was directed up lift to awaiting taxis. We had issues with the balcony door not closing properly. All of these issues were taken seriously and address promptly , ,! We opted for dinner at the Nouveau restaurant first night and were again given first class treatment. The meat melts in your mouth and is heavenly. Disappointed by the fake offer of free wine first night,, apparently per table Not per person. So my partner sat at another table. We still could talk and got our free wine as well which was not the best but 2 glasses in it was drinkable.. The punchline comedy club was great with great A plus comedians and R rated. Shows Also :The Marriage show was a scream. Guess who l am and build a tower taking middle and blocks out. The Empire Room was used for dinning every evening and we loved the happy family vibes that the staff gave out. We did some ship booked excursions but it was easy to book off ship at some places. Ship at Noumena has a bus that takes and return s people to the ship. Drops off along the waters edge and a walk to shops and large information centre to view assortment of other tours. Traveling with another cabin buddy who was very pleasant and considerate ,we had a fun time all up. I plan to go back but not happy they are moving to Brisbane. Last thing was the entertainment same old shows but new actors Unsure if that is common for a yr or a certain time span. Enjoyed Emerald Princess at Christmas three years ago although apart from Crab Shack and Chefs Table the food was pretty poor. I was too busy to write a review however and eventually forgot. But a seasoned couple with 40cruises under their belt told me that in the past few years Carnival who own Princess have made cabin staff go from making up ten rooms twice daily to eighteen rooms in the same time. The couple felt guilty and upset for the staff about this. I too, had wondered why the staff had had to work for longer and longer every day. Entertainment Excellent - very good - only 45 minutes per evening unfortunately which is too little. The food was truly awful. It was cheap canteen standard and so many passengers muttered about it - but said they never wrote reviews - that I decided someone had to do it or the food would just get worse. The PR manager handled it excellently however - and, to be fair, this aspect iof Carnivals service is very good. An example of cost cutting verging on the dishonest was when I asked for fresh orange juice. So I went to the bar where it was made and asked again for fresh juice. The waiter genuinely seemed to believe it was fresh but I had had a look. I saw that Carnival had put reconstituted juice in a jug marked fresh juice and then charged me for it.... Rather than cause a fuss I pai but my goodwill was running out. I again paid but it was the last straw. One reason was that these incidents reminded me of Easter 18 - I was on another Carnival ship - P n O Ventura. As a solo passenger I pay hundreds of pounds more for a room - up to double the cost. I got the usual two chocolates in my room that first night. The next night I got only one. The manager explained that since I was the only person in the room I would only get one chocolate... For some reason a few other solo passengers got two... Is this discrimination I ask? Seriously when another solo passenger and I complained, he reinstated the two chocolate policy for the duration of the cruise but said he would reintroduce it when we left. That is plain mean. Enrichment This is just another means of selling. Summary : Corporate Penny Pinching This is a lovely ship and, to a man, the staff is superb. But it is being ruined by corporate greed. Everywhere standards are being driven down by skinflint penny pinching. Carnival I am not saying that your board made the above decisions personally. But your policy of ruthlessly driving down costs by every nickel and dime - while posting profits in the billions - is responsible for such practices. With service such as that above however, your gravy train may seriously derail. At Christmas 18 I am going to India with Voyages to Antiquity. I hear they are decent people. I am looking forward to it. I chose this cruise as it offered great value for the solo traveller. I found the ship to be very clean and well presented and well equipped. The staff are so friendly and professional and a great laugh. The drinks inclusive package offers exceptional value for money in a way that is more relaxed than on other liners. Most of the ports were really nice with plenty to see and do. I was so impressed with the standard of service and friendliness on board. It was great to see people from all over he world enjoying dancing together. The entertainers are a great crew too. Full of energy and enthusiasm. It never ceases to amaze me how people compare a cruise like this to Caribbean Princess. There is no comparison the princess costs far more than double. Captain Garth and his crew were excellent and fun to be with. They really made the trip great. The Lewis R French is a great boat and was fun to sail on. We would do it again. The perfect trip to get away from it all and enjoy nature and the fun of sailing. The food was excellent, it's amazing what Jason could do on a wood burning stove. We had a wonderful Lobster bake on an island that was a lot of fun and all the lobster you can eat, really. The weather was perfect and we only had a small amount of rain as we were docking. It is best to bring a jacket and as usual, follow the advice they give you on what to pack. It was a very well run trip and all went very well. We would do it again. I chose this exciting cruise because of a combined decision among family members. The ship is not even the biggest ship offered, yet is still really large! The state rooms were very clean and the staff members were lovely. Most of my meals were held at the Marketplace. The food had many options- some the same every day but definitely enough variety for me to enjoy the experience and not feel like I am eating the same thing every day. One was at 3am. This consisted of staff members and the captain over the loud speaker at 3 o clock in the morning. The way the staff handled the situation was great, however a fire in the incinerator at 3am is not always the best wake up call. The last negative I have is that the bathroom toilet in my state room randomly did not have water flowing in it and would refuse to flush. This is gross and not acceptable for obvious reasons. This is the best boat I have ever been on. I have always traveled in luxary in Celebruty cruises but this beat all of them. There sanitary in the is boat is ten times best. The do not let you eat unless u put hand sanitizer or was your hands. The staff is very kind and is the best. They are very kind. This cruise also have a lot of kids things to go cart racing and laser tag. This boat also is very nice. The only thing is the boat does not have great entertainment in the theater but the game shows are first class. All of the game shows are all in the atrium and I reccomend all of you that are interested on this cruise to look at one of the game shows. Everbody come join the happy family here in the norwegian bliss. One of the best cruise ships we have ever been on. From the staff, rooms, food, and overall activities to choose from, we could not have asked for more. The food at many of the available restaurants was excellent. We especially enjoyed the casual experience at Windjammer. The food was excellent every day! We were not highly impressed with the Chop House, especially for the price, but everything else was great. You could not have asked for a friendlier room attendant! There are so many activities to participate in that you will never be bored. The casino is very tight. Other than those two negative ratings, the rest was awesome. Make sure to take the VIP dolphin swim in Nassau. Our family loved it! Kitts were still beautiful! We will definitely be back for another Harmony of the Seas cruise!
